Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg has a rich history that dates back to May 8, 1846, when 120 pioneers from New Braunfels, led by John Muesebach, founded the town. At that time, the area was Comanche Indian territory. Remarkably, just a year later, on May 9, 1847, John Muesebach and Comanche Chief Santanna forged a peace treaty that allowed the two communities to live harmoniously side by side. This treaty stands out in U.S. history as the only one that was never broken—a testament to the strength and resilience of these early settlers.
