Shipping Policy

Overview
This policy applies to orders placed at opassmokedmeats.com. Opa’s Smoked Meats ships nationwide via UPS from our Fredericksburg, Texas facility. Smoked meats are a perishable food product, and our shipping practices — ship-day scheduling, insulated packaging, and ice packs — are designed to deliver product in proper condition.
1. Where We Ship
Opa’s ships to the following destinations:
• Continental United States (UPS Ground or expedited service)
• Alaska (UPS expedited service only)
• Hawaii (UPS expedited service only)
Opa’s does not ship to:
• P.O. Boxes (UPS does not deliver to P.O. Boxes)
• APO, FPO, or DPO military addresses
• U.S. territories not listed above
• International addresses
A physical street address is required for all orders.
2. Order Processing and Ship Days
Orders placed before 10:00 AM Central Time on a designated ship day are processed for same-day shipment. Orders placed after 10:00 AM CT, or on a non-ship day, will be processed on the next eligible ship day.
Texas orders ship Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday via UPS Ground.
Out-of-state orders ship Monday and Tuesday via UPS expedited service.
This schedule keeps product moving during business days and avoids weekend layovers in carrier facilities. Because smoked meats are perishable, time in carrier networks during weekends introduces unnecessary risk to product condition.
3. Holiday Shipping
Holiday shipping cutoff dates are posted seasonally on opassmokedmeats.com. Customers ordering for holiday delivery are responsible for noting and meeting the posted cutoffs. Orders placed after a holiday cutoff may not arrive in time for the holiday and will ship on the next eligible ship day.
4. Packaging
All shipped orders are packed in insulated containers with ice packs. Opa’s takes every reasonable precaution to maintain proper temperature in transit — ship-day scheduling, insulated containers, ice packs, and weekend-avoidance routing.
Once a package leaves our facility, transit conditions are subject to carrier handling and weather conditions outside Opa’s control.
5. Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight, destination, and UPS published rates, plus a packaging and handling fee that covers insulated containers and ice packs.
6. Delivery Times
All delivery times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Carrier delays caused by weather, operational issues, or other events outside Opa’s control are not Opa’s responsibility.
UPS delivers to commercial addresses on Saturday. UPS is also expanding Saturday residential delivery on a case-by-case basis. Saturday delivery is not guaranteed and depends on the destination address and current UPS service in that area.
7. Tracking and Customer Responsibilities
Once an order ships, a confirmation email is sent to the customer with UPS tracking information.
Once shipped, the customer is responsible for:
• Tracking the package using the link provided
• Receiving the package promptly upon delivery
• Moving product to refrigeration immediately
• Notifying Opa’s within 24 hours of the UPS “delivered” scan if any issue exists
Smoked meats are perishable. Prompt receipt and refrigeration are essential to maintaining product quality, and the 24-hour reporting window is necessary to evaluate any temperature-related concerns.
8. Signature Confirmation
By default, Opa’s ships orders without signature confirmation, in line with standard UPS service. Customers concerned about porch theft or who otherwise want signature confirmation added to their order may request this by calling 830-997-3358 before the order ships.
Signature confirmation is a UPS service that carries an additional fee. The fee will be added to the customer’s shipping cost at the time of the request.
9. Address Accuracy
Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping addresses at checkout. If an address requires correction, rerouting, or redelivery for any reason originating with the customer or the address provided, the customer is responsible for the costs UPS charges Opa’s. UPS address correction fees are currently approximately $29.50 per package, plus any additional rerouting or redelivery fees that apply.
If an address error results in product loss — for example, a package is undeliverable and the perishable product spoils — the customer is responsible for product replacement cost in addition to any carrier fees.
10. Local Pickup
Some products are available for local pickup at Opa’s Smoked Meats Deli & Market in Fredericksburg, Texas. Local pickup orders are placed through Toast (linked from opassmokedmeats.com) and are not shipped.
Boards, trays, and custom gift baskets are pickup only and are not available for shipping. See the Return and Refund Policy, Section 11, for details on pickup orders.
11. Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Packages
Issues with packages — lost in transit, stolen after delivery, or damage on arrival — are addressed in the Return and Refund Policy. All package issues should be reported to orders@opasfbg.com or 830-997-3358 within 24 hours of the UPS “delivered” scan.
